Yes, we’re open! Thank you for your patience as we work through many new COVID-19 safety procedures for the Aquatic Center. Although we don’t have all the answers yet, our HCAC team has been diligently working with the guidelines set by the State of Michigan and the CDC to create procedures for a safe and welcoming environment. The below answers are subject to change and we’ll continue to update them as we have more information.
We’re open! HCAC opened our doors on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Please understand, our pools have been closed, and our HCAC team has been unable to work for the last 6 months. We are not able to open all programs and services at this time, but we are working hard to add in as many activities as we can, as soon as we can. Due to State of Michigan restrictions we are not currently able to offer Family Splash, Preschool Splash, or our Spa.
Our current schedule is available here. We will be adding activities and programs as we are able. You do not need to make an appointment for lap swim, the fitness room, water walking, or the therapy pool. Please check the schedule before coming to the Aquatic Center.
State regulations allow us to reopen the pool and gym areas to 25% capacity. For lap swim, we will be limiting access to 2 swimmers per lane with a 30-minute time limit (if others are waiting for a lane). The fitness room is limited to 10 visitors at a time. The Therapy Pool is limited to 12 swimmers. All of these activities are currently on a first-come, first-served basis and you may have to wait for your activity.
Regular facility use rates apply. Membership allows use of the fitness room, water walking, lap swim, and open therapy at no additional charge. Non-members may pay a single visit use fee of $8.50 per person, per visit. Rates for competitive swimming, fitness classes, and swimming lessons vary by activity.
Yes. Masks are required in all dry land areas of the Aquatic Center, including the fitness room. This is a State mandate and we are not able to make exceptions at this time. Masks should be worn until you are ready to enter the water, and are not allowed to be worn in the water due to safety concerns.
Locker rooms and other common areas present a higher risk of COVID-19 transmission due to high touch areas and groups of people in close proximity. Our locker rooms are open for changing but we ask that you bring our items to the pool deck or the fitness room with you.
We are currently offering lap swim, water walking, fitness room use, and open therapy. We will also offer competitive swimming, fitness classes, and instructional swimming lessons. All of these activities will be during limited times for limited numbers of people.
Our Splash Zone and Spa remain closed.
If you have (or had) an active membership prior to the closure of HCAC, we will be honoring any time you have paid for but were unable to use because of the pandemic. For example, if you had three months left when we closed in March, those three months will re-commence beginning Sept 9.
