Thank you for your patience as we develop plans to reopen the aquatic center. We are anxious to see our members again and are developing plans to safely welcome you back to the pool. Although we don’t have all the answers yet, our team has been diligently working with the guidelines set out by the State of Michigan and the CDC to create procedures for a safe and welcoming environment upon your return.  The below answers are subject to change and we’ll continue to update them as we have more information.

HCAC is not currently allowed to open due to restrictions that are currently in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the State of Michigan. As soon as we are allowed to open and we are able to do that safely, we will.

When we are able to open, we anticipate the hours will be 6 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday. We will be closed on Sunday.

Regular facility use rates will apply. Membership allows use of the fitness room, water walking, lap swim and open therapy at no additional charge. Non-members may pay a single visit use fee of $8.50 per person, per appointment. Rates for competitive swimming, fitness classes, and swimming lessons vary by activity.

We anticipate that masks will be required in dry land areas of the Aquatic Center. We will not allow masks in the water due to safety concerns. We are working to understand legal requirements and the recommendations provided by the CDC, and hope to provide additional information on this issue soon.

Locker rooms and other common areas present a higher risk of COVID-19 transmission due to high touch areas and groups of people in close proximity. We hope to open the locker room safely, as soon as those risks are able to be addressed.

When we open, we will offer lap swim, water walking, open therapy pool use, and fitness room use, by appointment. We will also offer competitive swimming, fitness classes, and instructional swimming lessons. All of these activities will be during limited times for limited numbers of people.

During phase one of our reopening plan, we will not be able to open the Splash Zone, and will not hold open “Family Splash” hours. The spa will be closed.

There are many user groups that are anxious to get back in the pool. In order to serve the highest number of people, during the open hours of operation, we are limiting users to 30-minute appointments – one appointment per person per day. As soon as we are able to offer longer times we will do so.
